Basalt is an igneous rock formed from hot magma that extrudes onto the surface. Characteristics of basalt include high density, low abrasion and wear resistance. Browns Hill Quarry is the only commercial basalt source in Interior Alaska. In addition to basalt products, the quarry also offers alluvial gravel as well as fill dirt and topsoil.

Located at 4-mile Badger Road, outside of Fairbanks the 400 acre quarry manufactures a diverse range of products for resale to Department of Defense, State, and local customers (please refer to our Product List).

On a yearly basis Browns Hill Quarry processes and manufacturers 200,000 cubic yards of materials. With a commercial life estimated at 30 years, Brown Hill Quarry will be offering superior products to their customers for years to come.
